This choropleth map displays the detection rates (proportion of the total number of tests per year which exceeds the maximum limit) for the municipalities in 10 class color scale.
The detection rates of radioactive cesium above the maximum limit were only calculated for the municipalities that made 10 or more tests. Municipalities that made less than 10 tests are shown in gray.
Based on the "New maximum limit of radioactive cesium", set by the "Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare", samples of which the total radioactive concentration of Cesium 134 and Cesium 137 was 100 Bq/kg or higher were determined to be in excess of the maximum limit.
